Default 2000 LT 80 fuel leaking out of exhaust?

Im a carpenter not a mechanic so i could use some help? the electric start would just click at the relay so i thought the starter or relay were bad. i just learned about the reset switch under the fender, so i reset it and it and hit the start button. It turned over then fuel leaked out where the exhaust bolts to the motor. I think it has something to do with the valves but like i said my main tool is a hammer. Any help would appreciated! Thanks

Welcome to the ATV Connection forums.
More info please.
Did your motor just leak a lil out the exhaust or did it spray ALOT of fuel out when it did crank over?

I'm not familiar with the LT 80 at all, so I don't know if it has an automatic fuel valve on the side or not. But if it does, make sure it's in the “ON” position and not in the “PRI” position.

Your correct. Vaccum operated petcock. On is off when the motor is not running.

I checked the fuel shutoff it was on. It is leaking quite a bit of fuel when i crank it over. It cranks until it kicks the reset switch under the right fender. The exhaust gasket on the pipe is shot and a bolt is missing from the flange. Thats why i can see the gas drizzling out by the motor. Thankful for the replies!!

My sons lt did the same thing. The fuel petcock is a bad setup. You can't manually shut it off. After a while they get gummed up or go bad and then the fuel bleeds by all the time. I went to pull the carb off and it leaked by no matter where I put it. I pulled the plug out of the bottom of the muffler and fuel dumped out. Then I turned the motor over with the pull rope because my starter is shot now and shot gas out of the intake on the cylinder and out of the exhaust. I also stood the bike up on its rear tires and then set it down and picked the rear end up and dumped it out the intake. I just kept doing this over and over till I got most of the gas out of it, put the carb back on and then was able to get it to start. I am putting a shutoff valve between the petcock and carb now.
