I just bought a new vinson and have only put about 25 miles on it. My question is, is is normal for a brand new ATV to smoke a little while in idle? When I first started it up for the first time it was smoking allot, and then it stopped when it warmed up. Today it didnt smoke at all on start up, but after I rode a while I had it just sitting in idle,and it was smoking a little.Please tell me this is normal.

 

How many hours do you have on the bike. I have an 05' vinson and mine smoked when it was new. ( brand new ) But it wasnt oil or gas smoke. It was the new exhaust packing and the metal getting hot. When these bikes are new the factory sprays a coating of some kind of protectant. To keep it from rusting etc. until it is purchased. Also it only smoked after it got hot and it would continue to smoke alittle even after I turned then engine off. This will eventually quit after a few weeks of riding. My father bought a king quad and his done the exact same. The smoke also will stink, like a bitter smell. But if yours is smoking differently from what I said I might take it and let the dealer look at it. Also check the oil color. If you are having internal problems the oil color will be grey color.
