Default LT250R No Start, Problem

I got two matching 250r's there 88's and are clean, no cracks for about $1200.

The needed little stuff like brakes, plugs and chains. They were running fine.

The one has a twist throttle and i dont know how to get the throttle cable off? (new to carbs)

Anyway.. My dad got on it and did a wheelie and forgot about the twist throttle and flipped it on black top. so im repairing it and cant get it started. I did a search for lt250r and got about 20 pages in and here i am.

It ran for a few minutes and idled around the house once and i tried to give it gas and it bogged down and then idled again only to die and not restart.

Has a spark and it looks like a good one and the compression after 5 kicks is 120 and after about 8 is 155. But i may not be kicking right. the arch of my foot is swollen pretty bad.

Took off the cab(kinda, didnt do the cable) and cleaned (was clean) the fuel bowl and checked the floats. The cab when the fuel is on leaks onto the ground. and the plug is wet when i pull it.

any help or where to go would be nice. Thanks Jordan (first 2 strokes)

You didn't have the slide valve out of the carb did you? If so make sure it is back in correctly, I'm not positive, but the 88 racers maybe have a guide so they will only go back in one way. If that's the case ignore this part.

If you have good spark, compression, and fuel, then drag it around and let it turn over then bump start it. Probably just has to much fuel built up inside the cylinder.

I may have an extra thumb throttle, if your interrested I'll check.
You got both of them for $1200? pretty good deal.

ps: better keep your dad off them.

Well i took the carb all the way off and let is soak in fuel then cleaned it again. I could see through the jets and everything is good. I have a small float leak but was told it should start.

Got another plug and now i dont have a spark. Yesterday i could see it plain as day no mistaking it and now nothing. hum

My dad is too old to be screwing around like that and now im keeping em at my place.

yea check the wiring and also check to make sure the ground wire is tight it should be on the frame somewhere becuase thats what it sounds like to me my ds650 wouldn't start b/c of that and I blew my cdi so check out the wiring and make sure its all good...when your dad did that he may have knocked the ground wire loose

I would say 120 at 5 kicks is getting a little low

got it going! I striped the frame of the body and tank and went over the wires and connections and added a electrical greese to them and started it up. Now all i need is that new front shock(snaped in half from the flip), carb float valve, hood, and headlight guard and im good to go.

Compression test: I bougt a tester from Harborfreight for $10 It screws down into the spark plug hole and then kicked it over. But im new to the 2 stroke kick so i dont think mine were full kicks. Past nine years was a four stroke kick. After the kicks the guage conected to the plug screw gives you your reading 0-300psi
