its a head gasket or base gasket. its not the waterpump seal, becuse theres no water in your oil, and a blown waterpump seal will not allow water in to the cylinder. don't ride it anymore with out any water in the radiator, or you'll sieze it, or cause some other overheating problems.

I also suspected that could be the problem, but now that you said that too, I believe that is the problem. I'm going to take off the head today and check it out. Thanks alot for all your info. And is it safe to ride it for one or two minutes at a time without the fluid? I have been driving from the garage to its parking spot wich is about 50 feet away.

I would be lookiong for some $$ back. What a jerk for not telling you up front that the quad has a serious problem. I wouldn't run it until it is fixed either. You may not hurt it any, but then again is it worth it to sink more money into it than you already have to?

I called him up and told him about it, and he said it never had a problem like that. This really sucks to, he thinks I'm rich because of my house and property, but I paid for this with my own money, my parents didnt chip in at all, now I dont have much money at all to buy parts. If its just a gasket I'm in good shape. I just hope thats it. Theres so many bolts and stuff missing tho. There is no latch for the seat, and there was only one bolt in the rear fenders, no supports either. I'll most likely have to sink a few hundred into it. W/e. Thanks for all your help.

Yagerzzz was right, I found the aluminum sticker with the vin# on it. It was covered with paint. It says on it "model Lt250rJ, the J symbolizing that it is an 88.

Hey, I just got my gaskets in today and I replaced the head gasket as sblt500r said to. I sanded down the head and cleaned the cylinder until they where both perfectly flat. I put the head back on and all the hoses. I filled up the radiator to see if any water would leak out.......... and it didnt!!!! I'm so happy this wasnt a big expensive problem. I'm still not out of the woods yet until I acually start the engine though. I did kick it over a few times w/o the spark plug in and not a drop came out. When I get my a-arms rebuilt and I have the fenders on secure, I'm going to take it for pretty much my first ride. I posted some pictures of it to. Thanks for all your help!

Looking good! Just keep an eye on it the first couple of rides and shake out all the bugs.
