The zuk has the most bottom end as long as it's an 87-92. The 85-86 didnt have a powervalve. The 250r handled best but didn't have the low end grunt of the zuk. I dont know much about the tecate but I know it was the fastest of the three.

rebuilding the top end of a two stroker isnt bad at all, much cheaper than the stealership doin it! i have owned the tecate4 and the 250r honda, have ridden an 86 lt250 which was pretty nuts for me at the time. the 86 lt250 had very poor handling..tried to blow through every bend.the tecate has tolerable handling with a mean @$$ motor. the 250r has great handling with a more controllable power.the t4 aftermarket just doesnt seem to be there like the r is (or was). a 250r with a fmf fatty, good reed cage, milled head(190 psi),open lid, properly jetted will rip on the trails!!

you should be able to get a quadracer for under 1000. I saw a really nice 92 for 900. But then again I paid 1350 for mine which is beat to hell.

Actually, an 85/6 LT250R has pretty good bottom end, the engine was taken from more of a trail bike than an mx bike and was ported/tuned differently. My '85 would take my brothers '87 in a drag, for about the first 20 feet, then it was lights out, lol. All the 250's handle better than say, a stock Banshee. Remember that being 2 strokes, the expansion chamber has a lot to do with where and how the power is made. I have ridden LT250R's with tons of power down low, and others that were doggy on the bottom but then hit hard.
