Lt500 smoking bad

Default Lt500 smoking bad

Hey guy i recently blew my head gasket in my 1987 zilla, a little coolant got into the cylinder on top of the piston, i replaced the head gasket and put everything back together..i was using a splitfire spark plug..i replaced it with a ngk br8egv. i tried to kick start it but, it kicks back alot and hard. it push starts and idles fine but it smokes really bad....what is casuing this problem??

whenever you do,stay away from splitfire spark plug,the only engine i saw wich give benefit to it was a lawn mover or something like that,something who doens't care about timing set or any rpm either,,buy ngk,i'll suggest you br9es or br9eix iridium,if you're spot on jetted,,your smoke problem sound like a flooded engine from the head blowing gasket bad luck,,it should be back to cleaner level as you throw more riding time out of it...

you probably still have some water in the engine and in the pipe and it will make it smoke bad for a while

Default Lt500 smoking bad

I had that samw problem with my kawasaki tecate. Blown head gasket got hte engine hot and then after a fix the magnet in the flywheel had cracked because of the heat. This messed up the spark pick up with the stator and was enough to almost break your leg when you tried to kick start it. Would push start and run great but kicking sucked!!!!!!!!!!!
