Default Brake drum removal

I am trying to remove the brake drum from my son's 2003 Ozark. I've removed the stud plate off the axel, then the dust cover. Then cables and all external hardware. The shoes are backed off and axel turns freely. Next I need to remove the drum , try as I mite I cannot get it to come off. I think it has rusted on because water did get inside the sealed unit. I might try heat and tap on it with a large hammer, any other Ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.
