Eiger/Vinson
#1
My little brother has been looking at both the Eiger and Vinson. He wants just a trail bike with some light mud every once in awhile. He doesn't want to spend a bunch on aftermarket add ons. He just wants a nice bike for his money. How about some thoughts on these 2 models. Thanks

I've been hesitating long between the two myself, I finally picked up the Vinson for the lil more power, and the look of it mainly. I didnt need a really big engine since it was just to ride, not work. I test rided both for a full day before I took my decision. In my opinion, the vinson feels more comfortable on the trail, but the eiger is not bad, and feels lighter driving around. I'd say if you wanna go dollar for dollar on a trail quad, you cant go wrong with an Eiger... either semi or auto. On the other side, the vinson is a bit stronger, a bit bigger, and the plastics looks cool on it. Not to mention that the quad is easy to maintain since everything is easy to reach. Both are great machines, your choice buddy.

If you look very closely at the Eiger and Vinson they are almost the same, they share a lot of the same frame and axle parts, the only difference is the engine and the plastics, before I purchaced my Eiger I wanted the Vinson, but it was a BIG difference in price, the Eiger was $4399 and the Vinson was $5499, and the reason I picked the Eiger is because it seemed almost like the same machine as the Eiger.

I guess I am not the only person out there that thought long and hard about the two bikes. In the end I went for the Eiger, price was the desiding factor. Some others reasons were less technology, less to go wrong. Such as the digital speedometer the Vinson has. Do you really need one? And the push button 4X4, its just more to brake. And I have ridin hours on in on my bike in South Texas heat, with no overheat problems at all. The Eiger is a great bike!

I was in the same positon as you back in 2004 I was all set to sign the papers on the eiger and asked the guy for a price on the vinson and decided to get the vinson, the extra money it cost is't that much in the long run. It's the better of the two machines in my opinion.
The vinson has more power, disk brakes, more ground clearance, adjustable shocks, better lighting, bigger seat. The digital dash isn't really needed but I like it and most all utility atv's have (trouble free) push button 4x4.
If money is a big factor than go with the eiger it is a good bike for a 400cc machine. I always recommend the vinson or eiger when people ask me about quads. A friend of mine bought a black eiger a few weeks ago and he likes it fine.
