Default RK, Need Advice

I have recently purchased an 89 LT500 and was hoping that you would be willing to help me with a few things. The previous owner had problems with four cornering pistons after a few hours of riding. I am planning on doing a complete rebuild this winter, but decided to put a new piston in it for a few rides this fall. I put a Wiseco 88mm piston in at 7.5 thousands clearance to hopefully keep it from squeaking. The bike has an FMF pipe and I am running a 380 break in jet at 3500 ft.

Is this problem typical for the lt500s? How much piston clearance do you normally run? I haven't had a chance to do a leak down or anything, that will take place this winter when I tear it completly down and reassemble.

Hi,
A little loose won't hurt it other than you need to let the piston/cylinder warm up before you run it hard.
FMF pipe is good for a bone stock motor.........I know the Emlers and they are good people.
No comparison to mine..............
Just ask those who own one.

I would like to purchase one of your pipes but I'm hoping that you would either have time to port for me or recommend someone that I could send it to. I would also like to buy a PWK carb but am unsure of 39 or 41, V-Force reeds with a spacer and a Power Head. Not sure what domes to get though. I am good with running 110 octane. Do the domes have to be recut for the 88 mm? Does Duncan do it if required?

Once the motor is modded is it a good idea to remove the head stay?

Thanks, I know you're busy and I appreciate the help. How do I get hold of one of your pipes?
