Default Help : Rebuilding oil resevoir shock

Hi, I'm rebuilding my rear shock on my 88' Lt250r. I just took it all apart and cleaned it up. I emptied the old oil out of the resevoir. When I'm putting it back together,

1. What kind of oil do I use to put in the shock/res
2. How much oil do I put in the shock/res
3. What do I compress the shock/res with (nitrogen, compressed air, etc)
4. Is there an overflow valve , or do I need to put a sertain PSI in the res

Any help would be greatly appritiated.

Thanks Mike

fill the shock with shock/fork oil you can get from any dealer, and compress and decompress the shock till its full. the resie should be charged at 120-130PSI of Nitrogen.

Can I use compressed air instead? I have an aircompressor that goes up to 125 PSI.

Thanks mike

No, air has moisture and other stuff in it that will cause problems down the road inside your shock. Nitrogen is dry, inert ( won't react with anything) and will make your shock last a lot longer. Any shop that works on bikes or quads or sleds can usually pump up your shock with nitrogen.

Just the shock or fill the hose and just enough to show up on the bottom of the res?
