LOL! HAHAHHAHA!

What a turd in the punch bowl!

The Kodiak 450 and Suzuki may have a few parts the same....maybe!

The kodiak 450 uses a old school 2 valve 450 design while the kingquad is a totally new design by suzuki that uses 4 valves, also the kingquad shares the same size as the kingquad 700(very large) while the yamaha griz/kodiak 450 is a rather small atv....................why do I even try???

Well I went to take a look at the 450KQ this weekend. I went in and looked at some small quads with my son. Then a salesman walks up and we talk and look at quads a bit, then I tell him I really came in to see if they had any KQ450's yet. He said no, they had some of the new other brands but no Suzuki yet. So I mill around with my son, and what do I see, a KQ with NO handlebar headlight. WOW could this be the KQ450 that the salesman said hadnt arived yet, so I go over and by golly it is. Well it is true , it has a "choke". I asked another salesman why he thinks it has a choke as the side of the quad says "fuel injected" . He sayed truthfully he didnt know. Figured it was some type of throttle assist that idles it up slightly in cool weather and not a true choke. But why would a fuel injected bike need any assistence? Well just remember the KQ700 has fuel injection too, but it is more of a TBI type injection, not what i call a true injection engine, and there have been a few noted to not run well when it gets really cold, so they could possibly do for a "choke" of some type. Mine hasnt displayed this problem in cool weather, but it doesnt get that cool where i live either. Anyway, the KQ 450 does have some type of choke on the left handlebar !

Thanks for the post....I have been told many times by a salesman that they didn't have an "X" quad that I was asking about only to walk over and see it on the floor somewere.....

On another note, what's up with the choke on the EFI? I don't need a choke on my car???

There are 3 types of EFIs,, Port Fuel Injection , Direct fuel injection and Throttle body which ATVs use is the simplest and related to the carburetor. Have you ever looked under the hood of a 89 Chevy pick up truck ? Its trottle body(EFI) and you barely tell it from a carbed older model.

When you look at detailed specs they say For Example. 40mm throttle body.

Throttle Body Injection is the most simple type of EFI and the closest to carburetion in operation. Throttle Body Injection (tbi)
Throttle body injection is much like a carburetor except that there?s no fuel bowl, float, needle valve, venturi, fuel jets, accelerator pump or choke. That?s because throttle body injection does not depend on engine vacuum or venturi vacuum for fuel metering. Fuel is sprayed directly into the intake manifold instead of being siphoned in by intake vacuum.

Port Fuel Injection is the most widely utilized form of injection today. Fuel is injected at each intake port, usually at the cylinder head and intake manifold. Only air travels through the intake tract until it reaches the point in which fuel is injected. This method allows a wide variety of intake system designs to be explored and utilized depending on application, thus making super- and turbo-charging extremely feasible.

Direct Fuel Injection is a new technology. This system utilizes injectors similar to diesel engines in which fuel is injected directly into the cylinder. Obviously cost is high due the custom cylinder head configuration and high-temp injector required. Not much is known about this system relating to performance usage be the foundation has been laid for previously untold amounts of attainable power potential.

Actually, even tuned port injection has a throttle body. A 'body' that 'throttles' the air. All gasoline engines have one.

Diesels on the other hand...

but that's a different forum.

Why are you excited about something you've heard nothing about? Seems a little premature.

I think this topic deserves a new thread.
