Default Lt250r : Clutch is sticking

Hey everyone, I'm just about finished restoring my Lt, and I fired it up today. I shut it off and checked the clutch. I put it in first held the clutch and kicked it, and the bike moves. I never took the clutch apart during the restoration. Does any one know whats wrong and how to fix it. I positive its sticking because when I tried to shift into 1st when it was running, the bike jumped and then stalled. It worked fine before I restored it to. Any help would be apritiated.

Mike

There should be an adjustment on the clutch cable, see if you can adjust it to not jump while shifting at idle.

I took off the cable and rigged up a wrench on the clutch and pulled it as far as it goes, it still slips though. I think maybe the plates are sticking? I'm not really sure.

I think you are right. Pull the cover off and see whats going on. What kind of oil are you using for the transmission?

I just drained the oil and put new tranny oil in. It's Bel-Ray Gear Saver 80w. The manual says 20w-40, but the guy at my dealer said this would work perfectly.

Well, like I said, pull that cover off and see what going on. A clutch kit for that from Rocky Mountain is under $50 probably. I put the Tusk clutch kit in my 85 ATC and it's holding up nicely.
