My opinion...I think a 60in plow might be pushing too much. Based on my experience so far with powder snow, I had no problems pushing 6in with my 2000 KQ straight on and with the blade angled. Heavy wet snow and pushing a big 60in with the blade centered might challenge the KQ without good traction on all wheels. Maybe using half the blade depending on the height of the snow. I was pretty impressed with the amount of snow I was able to push. I was able to push snow high and over existing mounds straight on. After the first big snow, I adjusted the skids so that I left a quarter inch of snow (two washers worth of spacing on the skids) and plowed a majority of the snow. After it warmed up, I took the skids down to the minimum clearance and cleared the rest of the snow down to the cement. I did't have any trouble with traction until I came to the base of the existing mounds. I switched the diff lock on a few times to really push the snow further up and over but even then all four wheels spun. I'm thinking about adding some weight to the front rack to get more traction. I would consider chains, but I have blacktop driveway, and I don't want to chew it up.

When I researched the plow kits for the KQ I noticed that 50in plows were the recommended size. The KQ is not a big utility quad.

I sure love it when it snows! My wife said I had this smile on my face when I was out there. The other neighbors were jealous, but thankful when I plowed their driveways.

Happy plowing!

There is one thing Brian is missing. The kings have 2 things that no other quads have.

1, The super low range, speed isnt needed to push snow so that the king is well suited for the task of pushing snow.

2, The on demand locker, this has helped so far

And to the contrary for the king not reamended on having the 60 inch plow. In the parts unlimited 2000 catalog they dont show recamend any particlar plow in the moose part, but for the cycle country plow section (page 295)they recamend every plow (including the 60 inch plow) except the 48 inch plow. Now I took my king through on of my neighbors snow pile that was well over my blade and it was about 5 feet thick, and like i said before it dug in and got the job done. I got nothing bad to say for the setup I got on this quad. The only thing that I may still add is some stiffer front shocks, or I just might get a set of spring spacers, (i dont really like that idea) with limiting the front shock movement i would be able to lift the plow sooner and higher should i need to do so.

Rob,
I've never ridden at Geneva. Mostly private land around my house as well as poker runs in Salamanca, NY, Great Valley, NY and Geneva dice run in PA. Also have been on the trails in Marienville. Nice places to ride. If you like slop and mud, Salamanca, NY is the place for you.

Do you have a lift kit or over sized tires on your quad with the plow? If so is there some type of adapter you have to use so your plow will be at ground level because the quad sits high?

qm500,
I'm not sure who you are asking, but I have a lift and 27" tires on my quad. There is no need for any adapter. The plow travels low enough. I use my winch to move it up and down. Actually the lift kit helps when the plow is down. It raises the machine so the headlights shine in front of you. It us usually dark when I get home from work and start plowing.

Like the rest of you, I was SO happy when the snow finally came. Now I wish the heck it would quit and let some of this stuff melt before the next snow fall. My neighbors tend to stand and watch when I'm doing my driveway. Their anticipation is almost overwelming and I loose track of what I'm doing so I go and help them first before I'm finished with my own. Now that I think about it, that's the same thought process the grand kids use on me when they want another cookie...

Hey robh. Email me. I have a magellan GPS, I use it for both my quads and my snowmobile, but was wondering how well the Garamin GPSII unit you have works. How long does it take to get a fix and does it have a magnetic compass that can tell you which direction you are facing without being moving? Depending on your answer ill buy the Garamin unit...Eamil me, john@vastnet.net

Thanks...
