Default Eiger winch wiring..

I'm having a little trouble with the final wiring on my winch. I have an '05 eiger. Installed and wired a milemarker pe2500 winch. The only trouble i'm having is finding where the third wire on the mini rocker switch hooks into the wire for the key control. This wire, when key is turned on, sends power to the rockerswitch. Is there any special conection factory set already there to hook onto. or do i have to splice the wire? i also could send the wire directly to the red terminal of the battery, the winch would then work , key or not, however will this drain the battery?

thanks
pat

napper,

Not sure about the Eigers, but the Vinsons are usually already prewired for a winch. (I just looked, according to Suzuki's website, the Eigers are prewired for a winch).....The 3 wires to hook up the rocker mini-switch on the Vinson were under the Headlight pod between the handlebars.....Maybe the 3 wires you're looking for are under the speedo pod on the Eiger.....just a suggestion, good luck!

The other end of the green and black wires for the micro switch should be tied to your frame on the left rear side of the quad (on the frame somewhere over the tire)....those are the green and black wires that should plug or connect to the contactor box that came with your winch. Just in case....the contactor is usually a black, rectangular shape with 4 to 8 spots to connect all the winch wiring into.

Thanks ttrailblazer,

I've got the whole thing all wired, it was just that third red wire on the rocker cable. I was having toruble finding where to hook on. I'll look around the headlight area. Just for everyones info, the suzuki prewire is a 6 gauge blue and yellow wire that runs from the front where the winch mounts to the back of the atv where it ends ontop of the cargo box. The plastic cargo box has 4 rubber plugs in the back, remove those and mount the contactor using those holes. Obviously run the red/black to the battery from the contactor. The prewire should work with pretty muchj any type of winch.
