I Bought an 04 ltz400 stock with no hours on it,i ride with a few buddys of mine on yfz450's and raptor 660/700's,we do mostly trail riding and some occasionally drag racing my question is what sprockets best to change front or back i dont want to replace the chain, and in the front is 12 to much to go i dont want to kill my top end completly?and my friend had the 13 tooth and he said it reved out and toped out to fast to i could amagine how fast the 12 tooth ould rev out so i just want others opions..thanks

Well, I cant tell you which sprocket to use, But I will tell you this. The more teeth = higher topend. Fewer teeth mean less top end and more power on the front sprockets. Have you actually counted the number of teeth ? I think they come stock with a 14 tooth. The fronts are less costly.

For trail and drag, I'd think 1 tooth down from stock (front) would work well. Yes it will rev out faster, but on the trail or 300ft drags, is more needed?
