How does a Z400 stack vs new Renegade?
#1
Fellas,
How is the new Can am Renegade going to stack up for trail riding compared to the Z400. Will it be much faster? I would think the Z would out handle it for sure. The suspension my be better on the Renegade though as well as ground clearance.

I'm thinkin the renegade would blow the z400 away in any trail, its got the same motor as the 800 outlander (62 hp) but weights like 40 pounds less. probably just as fast if not faster in tight trails because of the ground clearance. independant rear suspension is a huge plus, it also has the visco-lok differential that is absolutly amazing. I bet this beast would hit the 90mph mark, since the 800 outlander does about 82mph. I really have no clue though, its prob not as nimble as the z400 and if you get that btch stuck you might have a prob getting it out LOL im pretty sure it doesnt have 4x4.
but they are expensive as HELL!! like 10gs US before tax, i sure as hell wouldnt buy one, if i was goin to spend that much i'd just get the oulander 800xt.

two totally different animals..........
About the only place you might get a fair comparison would be on the drag strip. And I'm sure the Renegade would smoke the z400 pretty easily.....
Of course on an MX track with jumps the z400 would cut much quicker lap times......

In an all out drag the v-twin would smoke the Z...but on the trails or track would definetly be a different story!!!...and if your talking bang for the buck...the Z wins that hands down!!! Dont get me wrong..the regade is an awesome atv...but its almost 10g pricetag really hurts it!!

I agree, two totally different classes, never rode a Z400 but I'm used to riding a 03 Raptor and now I have a Renegade. My Renegade feels about as snappy and as powerful as my 660 did, (keep in mind two totally different machines, 400lbs vs 600lbs, and manual clutch vs CVT) and just to set the record straight, this past weekend I had my new Renegade out on a frozen lake and the speedo maxed at 70, dont let anyone tell you different, and in 4wd i maxed at 65 I think it was.

The price of the Renegade is deceiving. Its easy to critize the price without lookin at the spec's or even ridin 1. This will include D.E.S.S/4x4/IRS/lights brighter than cars/800cc motor/EFI/great handling/HPR shocks. $2000CDN less and all i would get is a 700R.
