Draining question
#1
This will be my first time draining the tank and carb in my Eiger. I was looking at directions on how to do it and it says to shut off the fuel petcock. I know thats the little **** that you turn, but then later on in the steps it says to open the tank petcock, is this a whole different petcock or is the fuel petcock also called the tank petcock?
Thanks

All tanks should be plastic, so no need to drain the gas tank anymore. If its gonna sit for a while, add some sea foam or stabil , while the gas is still good, to protect it from deteriorating.
You should have a vacumn operated gas tank valve..it has a prime position. So whenever the motor isnt running, the gas wont flow, except for the prime position. So to drain the carb float bowl, just shut the motor off, and have the lever in either res or on, and open the screw a couple of turns on the bottom of the float bowl. You might want to catch the gas that comes out the hose, but there should be less than a cup full. Resnug the screw at the float bowl, and let it sit. When it comes time to start it again, use the pri position, for about 1/2 minute, and then go back to on...should be good to go.

I'm actually draing the carb so I can flush it out because I've been having problems keeping it started. I was just going to empty the gas tank as well so I could refill with fresh fuel when I'm done. So I don't know if that changes anything with your description above or not. Do you think I should actually change the fuel or not? It was sitting for about a year, maybe less with no stabil or anything. It was low on fuel the whole time so I put fresh fuel in a couple weeks ago and it started but wouldn't stay on for long so now I'm cleaning it and changing out some maintainence parts.

An easy but slow way to drain the tank, is open that same screw on the float bowl, and put the tube(from the bottom of the carb) into a can, and go to pri on the gas tank. It may take 20 minutes to dump a whole tank, but its the easiest way.
