LT 185 carb questions
Hey guys,
I am in the process of building an 87 LT185. The stock carb on these things are apparently a Mikuni VM22SS of which I can find very little information. I have not been successful in finding a kit for one either. I will rebuild the top end of the engine and it will be bored 1 mm (.040) over. What carb would you use to replace the original? Any thoughts on a cam as far as what kind and where to get one?
Thanks for the help. I have had a hard time finding any kind of aftermarket parts for this thing.
Any suggestions on things that I should do to make the build better?
Brad

LT 185 carb and build up questions
Well its probably a little late now but maybe this will help someone else. You can get parts for your carb at babbittsonline or others (anyone that sells oem suzuki parts online that has micro-fische online is good). As far as a carb rebuild kit, you can always use the LT125 card rebuilt kits floating about (they are all over ebay)...thats what I used. Its the same except for some of the jets (the main jet is 115 on the 185 and 100 on the 125, the needle jet seat is the same, the needle itself is different, the needle valve assembly is different, the mix/pilot screws are the same). So if you just need new o-rings and gaskets and maybe one jet is bad, the LT 125 carb rebuild kit is one way to go and just buy the 185 specific jet parts off one of the oem parts suppliers as you need them.
You can also go to this place and get the jets cheap compared to oem for mikuni carbs if you can find out what you need. I have not tried him but it looks like good pricing to me.

and this place can help you identify your carb for sure...I used oem parts so I did not have to figure out what it was.
