I have an LTR with 20" Holeshot xcr's on the back and 22' xcr's on the front, they are good tires but the gnc's in the same size are better I think. I have gone back to the stock tire after running the others for 2 months, I say dial in the suspension and run stock. Oh I went down one tooth on the front with the larger tires.

Well i would have to say that I love my ltr 450....it has great bottom end and great midrange to...as for the top end its actually pretty good...i just took it threw some rough trails and it did everything i wanted it to....you can turn so fast because of how wide it is and all....umm you def need to get an exhaust for a ltr 450 because that stock exhaust is heavier than anything....the hmf is what i like because for one it has great sound 2 it was an amazing power gain and 3rd its light weight....Im extremely happy with my ltr 450...i would recommend it to anyone that is looking for something new and def. high performance...as for the tires im gonna run the stock size with the kenda mx tires i think....and are the stock tires 6ply?? someone told me that last night and it doesnt seem right because i alredy put a whole in them goin threw a cornfield....well someone write bac!!!

I own an Ltr and have had it for 6 months, I have put alot of hours on it and it is a very good bike. I ride at my house we have a track and a 6 foot steel ramp, and I go to duraham town in georgia, and just all over. Two of my buddies own one as well and they dominate, we ride with other tuned yfz's and hondas and they do not compare. of course with 3,000 in suspension any of them can. but Suzuki does it right out of the box. A cherry bomb is a must have, just plugs in. And as for the exhaust, get a slip on, it already has a titanium header stock but a slip on will gave a big power increase. And Im not putting down any other bike honda or yamaha. They both build a good machine, but Suzuki is by far the best of the show room floor, I know by experience. And the fuel injection gives throttle response and smooth operation that a carb just cant do.

Well, this is a subject I've wanted to discuss a long time.
I'm an old-school Quadracer guy, and I love these new Suzuki's.
I've wanted the LTR450 so bad I could taste it for a long time.
It was my choice of the 450's for nostalgic reasons.
I even had a chance to buy a really lightly used and nicely modified one in white.
As much as I love everything about the bike.....
Well I couldn't help but think "I bet the owner traded it back for a Z400 or utility for a trail machine".....
Because of the nice width and the MX size rear tires.
Ended up on a less good looking modified YFZ450, and ended up probably close to as wide.
Now I'm shopping again and trying to figure out what to do. I ride a mix of everything, and if I get to the point where I can have something else for the real tight woods, I'd LOVE to consider an LTR450 for all the rest of my riding.
But I'm watching this tread to see what you guys have to say about the tires for other than track riding.... and I am wondering how they ride, handle and perform.... and how the gearing is...
The YFZ450 is just sick (in a good way). But I bet the EFI gives the Suzuki an advantage. The handling on the YFZ450 is sharp, but unfortunately so is the ride quality. And the gearing on the YFZ is great everywhere but dead bottom and top.... which is a real pickle to be in. Creeping off it's easy to stall sometimes and it winds out pretty quick in 5th, so to drop a tooth it would need a 6th gear.
I wish I had a riding buddy with one I could try myself. But I don't. So that's why I'm trying to piggy-back here for some feedback.
I ran across a really really good deal on a new yellow one over the weekend, and passed again due to my lack of knowledge.

i switched out rims and tires with a z250 for a day to see how it would do and it had 20x11x10's shredders on it and it made a big difference i know kenda has a tire called the dominator that is on www.rockymountianatvmx.com it is a 20 inch tall tire but will fit on ur stock rim it would be a good tire to go with it has a tread pattern like a i-razr from maxxis but with the 20 inch tall tire ur rev limiter does not come in as fast ur top speed goes up alot and if ur racein on dirt u come out of the whole better cuz ur not spinnin as bad i know when i tried to drag with my stock tires i was gettin smoked by a dvx 400 i was like d**m this is a piece of sH*t but after i put the bigger tires onthere i was pullin about 5 lenghts on about a 60 yard drag strip but u will not drag ur swingarm as bad with the 20 inch tires while trial ridein and i know i could ride a better wheelie with the larger tires so i would try and find a 20 inch tall tire that u like the tread sum people like the close tread like a turf tammer i like them but they not good for mudd ridein and sum people like the x drive tires like the razrs and holeshots and the dominator is a cheaper tire with the same tread as the more expensive razr's and holeshots another possibility is the shredder i can't remember who makes them but they have a size to fit on ur stock rims and they r a good tire i have a set on my ds 650 they get a good bite and good tread wear and have the x drive pattern but those r the 3 best tires i have seen so far that i think would be good and would consider buyin so either the ITP carslile turftammer the kenda dominator or the shredder which again i can't remember who makes them but they all should make a difference if u get the 20 inch tall versions they did for me

I put 20" GNCC on front and 22" GNCC on rear and love them. I do most of my ridding in the Arizona desert and in sand washes. These tires throw a roost "big time". No one likes to be behind me, because they know they will be pelted with whatever is on the road.
PS. I really like my LT-R450 also...
