Well between the Z and a EX, I would grab a Z obviously (cause I have one!) great quad...But if I were in your shoes, young kid, wanting to hit the track & trails, I'd snag one of them YFZ 450's personally, if you can swing the $$$

I had a 2004 Z and loved it. When I sold my 04, I got an 07. This sport Quad is a great choice. There are so many parts that can be added for power. Stock this sport is pretty good. If you trail ride its much better to have rev. I first wanted the R450 but no rev. So I brought the Z400. And have been very happy with both bikes. This bike has plenty of power for all types of riders.
