Default Nobody told me..........

Greetings, I'm in the market for a 4x4 quad and have looked at literally everything. Yes, the KQ450 is manna from Heaven but too much for what I need. I've read reviews that the Eiger had a wonderfully fun engine. I thought it was discontinued but delightedly found that it is still with us in the incarnation of the King Quad 400, it's priced really well, too.
So can I hear from Eiger owners and their experiences with the quad? Deep snow will be my forte and I'll probably get a winch with it as well.
Thanks...........

The Eiger is a good machine, I just bought 2- 07 models. The only drawback is reverse. It does not have a low range for reverse, its geared kinda high. Other than that I love it.

It's pre-wired for winch install. The Eiger/KQ400 is a good all around bike. Not the biggest, not the fastest but not the most expensive either. For it's price, it's hard to beat.

Thanks for the reply's, guys.I just found out that the KQ400 is prewired and even has a spot for the winch solenoid, that just fantastic! Now- is there a resident genius around here? will something like the rear shock of of an LTR250 or LTR450F fit the KQ400? Reason I ask is, well y'know how the ride on an SRA can be, and I changed out the rear shock on my Mojave, which will be given up for the KQ- for one off of a 250R Honda and man- the difference was night and day. It also has seperate Rebound and compression adjustments......

We don't get that much snow here, but it easily goes through mud a lot deeper than that so I can't image snow slowing it down.

We had 18" last January and I had just bought mine and was still kind of babying it. Lets just say that it is possible to do donuts in 4x4 once you get the snow packed down by riding through it once. Until the snow was higher that the foot boards, 2 wheel drive went right through it. Mind you I had all of about 30 miles on the stock Maxxis tires.

Put on a winch in about 1 hour. Just buy one with all of the accessories. Solenoid mounts right on the back of the gear box. Even a convienent hole next to the battery to run the cable to the solenoid.

Installed a plow on it over the weekend. Took about 1 1/2 hours to do that. Went with an American Eagle 54" with all of the mounting hardware. Bought on Ebay. Looks like it should push alot of snow.

I am very happy with the Eiger. Great price and I looked at everything before I went with it.

That's a big 10-4, 07. One of these days I'm gonna go down to Albuquerque and look over some rides. From what I gather, R&S has a KQ400 already in the showroom. Teh new T- shaped seat is appealing.........

Hey kwacker. I only ride my Eiger in the winter and it does great. If you plan on doing snow though, go with the auto. The manual can sometimes be picky about going into gear and in the snow when you're trying to keep momentum up, it really sucks having to keep trying to shift it. If you're going for a foot and a half of snow, get some wider tires.
