Default Winch Problems

I have an 05 Suzuki Vinson 500 with a Warn 2.5ci winch on it. I have the snow plow on it right now. I went to use it today and it worked fine for 2 passes down the drieway then I couldnt get it to do anything. I let it sit there for a bit an then it started to work again. When it was working I tested to see where I have power on the solenoid when I switch the rocker switch. After another few passes it did the same thing. So I tested it and Im not getting power when you flip the rocker switch. Is the switch faulty? How can I check to see if it is? The battery is at full voltage if that helps any. Any help would be great.

Thanks
Mike

Check the switch with an ohmmeter or a test light and battery. Since you said you let it sit and it works again, that makes me think the breaker is throwing due to too much currnet draw. Either the winch is drawing a lot of current, or your breaker is throwing at too little current. I don't know of a good way to check that because the current could be on the order of 50 amps. 20 amps is about all most multimeters will do. You could try bypassing the breaker when it stops working to see if it will work again. But be careful because if the winch is trying to draw 100 amps, it will probably burn itself up. There may be something jammed in the winch causing it to bog down and draw a lot of current (ie ice???)
