what is a kill switch used for and should i install one on my z250

I think the one you are referring to is like the ones on jet skies. It is for when you fall off your quad it will shut it off for you. I would put one on if you are prone to falling off!

its used to shut the moter off

how do you shut it off with out the kill switch?

Default what is a kill switch used for

If you are talking about a teather kill, then it is an added safety feature to kill the motor in the event you crash/fall off. If you ride at a track at all or plan on racing, one will most likely be required. For trail riding and recreational use they are not as big of a deal but still nice to have.
