Winch Installation on '07 KingQuad 700
#1
I was messing around with my machine today getting ready for my winch to arrive so I can install it. I read that the KQ is pre-wired with winch lead wires. I THINK I found this under the seat, but not sure (and my winch is not going to be compatale jus tot tap into that, so I guess doesn't matter much). The instructions for installing the wich itself seems to be very simple except I am not sure which wire I should splice into that is powered through the ignition.
Any suggestions on what wire to tap into that is powered by the ignition?
Any other words of wisdom or caution with installing a winch would be greatly apreciated as well (newbie here!).

In simple terms, the winch is wired directly to the battery, the relay is wired to the ignition. The relay has wires to the handle bar mounted switch. I have no knowledge of your electrical know how, SOOOO; if you have and can read a volt meter, find a circuit in your fuse box thats hot with the key on(shows at least 12volts), and dead(no volts) with the key off.
If a volt meter is too complicated or unavailable, go to an auto parts store and buy a simple circuit test light and some silicone made for electrical wiring. Find a fuse rated in amps, as high or higher than the contactor.
Go to RadioShack and buy some fuse taps, they slip over the fuse and give you a hot tap out without cutting your wiring. Wire the relay to the tap, mount the relay in the battery box, ground it to the battery, waterproof your tap with some silicone, connect the winch to the battery, and your done.
