I'm kinda new to this but I have a 1987 LT230s that is hard to start but sometimes shifts into 1st or 2nd when kickstarting? Also, when it does start, it makes buzzing noise coming from the front of the motor?

any help would be greatly appreciated!

 

How does the clutch feel?

 

if you hold the kick start down it clicks

 

clutch feels ok, but the kick start only grabs half way down and feels like it's grinding so I know there's something going on with the kick start but the noise doesn't seem like it's coming from that when it starts. The reverse lever flops back and forth freely ?

The reverse lever is supposed to flop back n forth freely if its in neutral.

You have 2 threads with the same name and I posted on the other one about that. I was linked to it from another thread by PoolGod.

I think you'll have to tear it down to find the problem. Something is bent or worn out inside.

Is your shifter really loose? Maybe when you kick the shifter is bouncing too hard and throwing it into gear? Does it do the same thing when you pull start it? (down a hill or behind another quad or car).
