Tires are a science unto themselves, if you are into an extreme part of the hobby like racing, mud bogging or a lot of sand - fine go out and buy a 'Specialized' set of tires.
For the 'Average Guy' that is trail riding on the weekends the stock tires will be fine.
But here's the kicker...talk to your local dealer... often he'll have a pile of Stock tires sitting in a corner because all of the 'SERIOUS' riders put on the Mud Lites. Now the dealer may just be willing to give you a heck of a good deal to get rid of this OLD STOCK.

Good point! Should try that sometime.
I've been wanting to try out a set of TracStars. I hear they are the lightest tire around and are radials. They clean out well and get good traction in a variety of surfaces.
Right now I'm running kenda klaws and I love everything about them, except the weight. They are about 3lbs heavier than tracstars.... each. But they have a dual rotation design that should be good in sand as well as regular trail use. The 400 shouldn't have any trouble spinning a heavier tire.
