Default 230 stroker?

Does anyone know if the 250F crank can be used in the 230 to stroke it to a 250? They have the same piston, same cam, same crank bearings and seals... just a longer stroke. I'm thinking this would be pretty nice with a big bore kit and a wicked cam. And some port work. And a new carb...

I am taking about the older 250 4 stroke that has the 66mm bore, same as the 230.

You'd have your work cut out for you... I can tell ya that much. I have both of them and I'm currently in the process of putting a BB kit on the 230 and a longer rod. For the 250 I'm going to use the .060 over piston from my 230. In the end they will both be a 260.

It would be a lot easier to just take the piston from the 230 and put it on the 250, because, in the end that's what you'll have to do... Move all the 250 engine parts over to the 230.... Even IF the crank would fit in the 230 case.

I was thinking if I could get it up to 250 with the stroke and then do the BB, I'll be around 290cc. With the extra displacement, I would be willing to buy a more radical cam. (The cam is getting upgraded either way.)

This listing claims this 250 will bolt right in place on a 230 frame, but doesn't say what year/model it came from. I'm not really a Suzuki guy... (my baby is an '86 200x)

Does anyone know what years/models I could bolt in a 250 from? I'd rather start a little bigger if possible.

I thought about putting the piston from the 273 kit (72 or 73 mm piston) in my 250 and having a 290, but its just too much trouble for what its worth.

The stroke on the 230 is already one of the longest strokes of any quad ever made. There's only a few that is longer. The trend of recent yrs has been to make the stroke shorter. Download the wiseco pdf's and take a look at all the bore n stroke sizes.

That is either a 1989 or 1990 LT250S because they only made them 2 yrs. Basically, everything you'd want to do to your 230 to make it better, suzuki has already done it to the 250S. The 250S has bigger valves, longer rod, bigger piston, better ports and exhaust, more clutch plates, longer swingarm bolt, longer and better shocks, wider in front and back... basically everything you can think of that you don't like about the 230 has been redone for the 250S. The 250S is a real gem.

I'm not talking about the 250F or z250 or whatever. Its only the 250S quadsport made in 89 and 90. The 250 made today suck.

To answer your question about putting the 250S engine in a 230 frame... I don't know. I know the 250 has a longer swingarm bolt, because I tried to interchange them before and its an inch longer. So, that may mean the engine is wider too. Its hard to say for sure. I have both the 230 and the 250s here right now and if you really need me to I can go out and measure some stuff for you. Plus I have the LT250 which is the one with the 72mm stroke.

If you're interested, I think my pics still has the 250S and the 230 side by side. You can see some differences in them.
