1988 lt230sj quad sport

Well, I would check into getting it welded then. If that can't be done, then I would be asking around on all the forums for opinions on the best epoxy to stick to aluminum. Then clean all the oil off with brake cleaner and put on as much of the epoxy as I could. I should stick. Worth a shot anyway. Its not a tank on an air compressor. It just holds oil under very low pressure.
I wouldn't junk the quad though. One day it will be worth something to some collector somewhere. Check the 10th digit of the VIN. It should be L or K. L is 1990 and K is 1989.

They didn't make a 250s in 1988. That's what you're wrong about. Look for yourself. http://www.alpha-sports.com/suzuki_atv_parts.htm
If you will find the VIN and count the 10th digit, it should be either an L or K.
The case is just a place to hold the oil. The oil pressure is made by the pump when it pumps the oil to the top of the engine. There is very little pressure inside the case.
JB shouldn't wear off unless something is rubbing it. All you need is a patch to hold the oil in.

I don't know then. I know the crank churns the oil pretty good, but hard to imagine it spraying because of it. There are lots of 230s out there with cracked mag covers that leak, but don't spray. Maybe your crack hit something else. Can you get a better pic of the crack?
Also, its hard to understand why oil spraying out would affect the engine wanting to idle. I think that is a carb problem.

it will start but wont stay running.so it is geting some gas thu the carb.and it dosent spray a larg amount but it sprays enof so i am losing oil.and if you look at the pic u posted ok the 1 i posted the crack starts right under were u see the previous weld.and runs down
