Default 1988 lt230sj quad sport

hey iam new here.i just got me a 1988 lt230sj quad sport as kinda a project thinking it wasent gonna be much more then doing the timiing belts.turns out my motor cace was cracked on the crank case and undwr the motor..my nabor said the crack on the bottem as kind big.does any one know if i can weld it with an alumnum wleder?or do i have to get a hole new case.ive checked in to that and its gonna be about 500 dollars for 1.or would it be better off buying a hole new motor..any info would be greatly apesheated

Try ebay. Try JB weld. It works pretty good on aluminum if you get it nice n clean first. A machine shop might be able to weld it.... I know a guy told me 30 bucks to fill in a car head one time.

ok.but the crack on the motor is kinda large.will this still work

Not sure. Depends on how large the crack is and why the crack got there.

idk.i got the quad from a friend and he nevor told me about a crack.he told me i need the timing done or somthing like thta.but when we looked the cxrank case had all ready been welder befor..and the bottem had a larg crack in it.i will try o get some pic of the crack..but do u know how much a motor case would cost and were i could get 1

Ebay. No idea on price.

Goop enough JB on it and it would probably hold. Unless its in a motor mount area of the case and under lots of stress.

ok i will try to get some pic of it on tomrow or some time...and i was looking at it and near the clutch.their is a 3thrd lever.idk what it is for.does any 1 know?

Its the compression release to make starting easier.

You sure that is a 230s? Looks like 250s plastics to me.
