Need some lt250r help
#1
Hi,
I am a newbie but have been checking this site out for some time and recently joined, with that out of the way.
I bought a 87 suzuki lt250r a month ago for what I thought was a good deal,I was wrong. The quad started racing as soon as it was started, a cracked intake boot was found and the reeds were not closing all the way.A new oem intake boot was installed and new boseyn power reeds. The quad still did the same high idle at start up,the carb was rebuilt,as well as new top end gaskets and piston rings( compression seemed low at 90 psi). I now have 125 psi of compression and no fuel to the plug. I am at a loss here and need some help or I am going to part this bleeping thing out.

is there gas in the tank ha ha i would pull the pecock out first and clean tank and screen after you did the rebuild you could have got dirt in carb and pluged the jet if you think you need a carb let me know i have a extra one that is in great shape bike always started on first kick when it was on did you do any other hop ups to bike holes in air box lid or lid off k&n filter anything that will let the bike get more air to carb might need rejetted or plug might be weak did bike smoke alot when it was warmed up need to know little things like that it all matters

The gas over a half a tank. When I took the carb apart it was very very clean,it has a 260 and I forgot what the other jet size was.The quad had a dg exhaust, which I replaced with a fmf set up. The air box is in stock form with a oem style filter. When it ran it did smoke like a normal two stroke engine and the plug looked good as well. I am really leaning towards this machine having weak or bad crank seals, but I have no way to pressure check the engine.
