Default renting a truck to pick up my new king quad 450, what size bed?

Im buying a 2008 king quad 450 from a finishline powersports in michigan. the problem is my truck wont make it there so i have to rent one. Just wanted to know what you guys haul your king quads in? the rental place has nissan titans and dodge rams but they dont always have them there so its more probable that im gonna get something like a dodge dakota or chevy colorado or something similar. since the wheel base is only 50.4 inches but the overall length is 83.5 inches, will it fit in a 6 foot bed without smashing the back window? i only have a few days to find a truck so any info at this point would be GREATLY appriciated!!!!!!!

I would think it would fit, may have to take some ratchet straps with ya, in case the tail-gate won't close.

Even those old small size Chevy S-10 could hold a ATV with the gate down. The mid size Dakotas and Colorado's sure can do it.

As long as the Dakota is not a 4 door it will fit just fine (longer bed)!

Trucks now a days seem to care more about if there rear passengers have enough leg room to stretch out in than if the box can hold anything.

yea thats why i didnt think it would fit. i was already planning on taking ratchet straps with me just in case i would have to leave the tailgate down. I just didnt wanna drive all the way to michigan to pick it up and have it not fit. I would've been a little upset about that.

Funny, my 95 Ranger will hold any of ours with the gate closed. So far I've bought the wife a 02 and 04 Dakota, an 06 Silverado and an 08 Titan. None of them could shut the tailgate.

But that Titan sure is roomy compared to my Ranger.

Anything with an 8 ft bed will carry it with the tailgate closed. 8 ft=97 inches. Just tell the rental place you want a single cab truck with an 8 ft bed. And don't forget loading ramps.

As long as the bed was the original 6.5 short bed most any stock quad should fit in the bed!
