1985 230s quadsport rear brake light
Its just a taillight, not a brake light. It gets power from the grey wire when you turn the lights on. The black wire is ground. The power is AC, not DC. I don't know if it makes a difference what bulb you use. That might be something to look into. You can't exceed 45-50 watts total for the lighting system or you'll burn up your lighting coil.

To do that the socket would need to be modified or replaced. It would require a dual filament bulb from a newer machine. One filament for each tail and break light. And (as JR has mentioned) the total wattage would need to be kept to a minnimum. I think the stock 230 bulb is only rated at 5 or 10 watts. It will not be very bright. But could use LED's I guess.
