"updating" Quadmaster 500 with Vinson piston & cam?
I have a 2000 Quadmaster 500 automatic and I'm trying to verify that by switching to the suppose to be high compression Vinson piston and the cams from a Vinson if I'll get much improvement in performance? From what I've read the Vinson piston is a 10:2:1 verses the Quadmaster 8:7:1. I'm wondering though if the stock Vinson cams are worth switching or should I have mine reground by hotcams or some other company and how about head porting, is it worth the cost of 300.00 for the benefit?
I like everything about the ATV except the lack of power. From what I've read the Vinson is considerably better and if I could squeeze another 10-15 h.p. out of this engine I would be happy with that! Also from 2003 the exhaust is switched to the opposite side, looks like it would convert over to the switch but I'd like your feed back perhaps there's something I'm missing that might interfear with the switch.
