Default 2006 king quad low voltage

hi back again just put a new 91.00 dollar battery in my 700 king quad and checked the voltage output at idle and it was at very best 13.5 volts a little low i thought and when you turn the lights on it drops below 13 volts and sometimes 12.5 . i noticed idleing with lights off voltage hangs around 13.5 like i said above but the higher the rpms the lower the voltage dropps it may go as low as 13 volts going down the road i am wondering about the voltage regulater and its output. suzuki says between 13.5 and 14.5 or 15 volts i think is ok but not for sure why the voltage falls so low with more rpms? if anyone can add some input that would be great

It could very well be the voltage regulator. Have you checked the charging current? I'm not sure if Suzuki has a method to full field it (fool the alternator into thinking the battery is dead, so it will output max amperage). May want to check with Zuk on that.

Did you get your cdi box recalled? suzuki sent out a recall on the 2005,2006,and 2007 kingquads. If you can email me your vin i can check with suzuki to see if your has been done.

Default 2006 king quad low voltage

hi back again just wanted everyone to know i found a cheap fix if your having low voltage problems like i was on a king quad 700. my rectifier bridge uses a single plug three yellow from the stator one red from the battery and one black wire with a white stripe which is the ground for the rectifierbridge. i spliced a new ground in at the rectifier plug the black and white wire and ran it strait to the negative side of the battery keeping the factory wireing just as it was and it helped mine about a volt better output . not for sure why maybe the factory wireing has to much resistance in it but it sure did not test high for resistance. basically i just beefed up the ground circuit to the rectifier and i think my low charging problems are over for now. i was told you can do the same thing on the red wire battery voltage but that one would be ran back to the positive side of the battery i tried this to and it did help a small amount but nothing like the ground did so left it alone
