Default need help with idle

I have a 1989 suzuki lt250s quadsport. The problem i'm having is with the idle. If I start the machine it will idle fine, but if I hit the throttle the RPM's go way up and stay there, the RPM's won't come down. If I shut the machine down and restart it, it will idle fine. I have cleaned the carb but nothing seems to work. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks.

It almost sounds like a air leak somewhere. That was the problem we were having with the Blaster. One other thing to check is the petcock, make sure you are not running the bowl dry as well as this was another problem we had.

Adjust the valves. Intake: .001-.003 Exhaust: .003-.005 inches. Err on the big side.

If that's not the problem, then its running lean for some reason or the throttle is getting stuck. Maybe the pilot jet is plugged? Run a bread tie wire through the hole to clean it.
