Axle stripped? What next?
#1
So I lost power to one of my rear wheels.
Just to clear things up, when you are looking at axles on ebay, how do you deterimine which is the right and left axle on your quad? Are you supposed to sit on the quad and call your right right or stand in front of the quad and do the same? I have found some used ones on ebay but have been hesitant to buy due to my in-experience.
I took off my cv boot (rubber thing) and noticed where the axle goes into the
u-joint is stripped. I put the quad up on jacks and could see the problem. Now, more than likely, both parts are stipped (axle and u-joint). It seems like my u-joint is very rusted and won't be easy to take off. Since this quad is so old and I don't really want to put lots of money into it, could I have my freind weld the axle to the u-joint and be done with it? Any suggestions would be appreciated, I have never made any real repairs on an atv.
