Cycle Country came through
#1
I bought a Cycle Country plow for my '99 King Quad. The mounting bracket (15-4520) didn't fit properly. I called Cycle Country, they said that was an old design, and a new part (15-4521) will be shipped to me free of charge. I received it yesterday, and let me tell you this part looks tough. Way to go Cycle Country, excellent customer service. Now if I can only get the UPS poeple to stop playing football with my packages (second opened box with missing hardware for this plow)...

The mount is a two piece unit, looks like two large skid plates. You can check out their user manuals site to see the details - http://www.cyclecountry.com/techsupp...er/15-4521.pdf It's part of their Work Power plow line, so the push tubes connect to the mount in the same way. It fits very close to the skid plate, and I'm thinking it might not hinder trail riding too much. The plow mounts a few inches forward of the older location, which is better for my installation. Now the plow doesn't hit the winch if I lift it too far.

Archer... the winch bed was new for 2000. On the '99, they replace the grill (originally mounted back on the frame) with a plate that the winch bolts to. I looked at the new winch bed, but didn't take too much notice of size/clearance. The problem I was having was the angle lock lever was hitting the winch if I raised the plow too far. I suspect you would have similiar problems with the winch bed. If you want, I'll take some measurements tonight, sketch it up on paper, and report back tomorrow. It would probably be fine as long as you are aware of it and don't raise the plow too high.

I took a few quick messurements... lets see how well I can describe it. On the '99 the front bumper is just below the level of the headlights, and measures 6" in front of the glass. I'll use the front bumper as the reference for the rest. Since the plow will raise and lower, the biggest issue is how far from the front of the bike the workings of the plow sit. The angle lock lever is located directly below the bumper. The mounting points for the tension springs are about 4" ahead and below the bumper. The top edge of the plow is 13" ahead of the bumper. These measurement were made with the straight 48" plow, the standard push tubes, and the 15-4521 mounting bracket. It doesn't look like there is much room there for a winch bed. I would suggest calling Cycle Country directly and asking one of their techs. They are very good to deal with and have probably looked at this already.
