well im using a smokeless oil hmmm and i used to use the penzoil but here is something i drained the oil out of the case and only about 1/2 of a quart came out i put about 1/4 of a quart in and fired it up (dangerous) but it smoked very little so i shut it down this brings me to believe the cas or cases have a issue i replaced both crank seals and bearing and used moto seal to seal the cases im going to check the crankcase vent later today when i get out of the dreaded work place

there is also a seal in the bushing that goes on the clutch side of the crank. its a little o-ring that slips inside bushing. and the bushing goes with the tapered side out. might want to check on that before you split the cases. best bet would be to do a leakdown test. hope you get it all worked out.

im not sure if that would make it leak but its worth checking into. better than spliting the cases if you dont have to.
