Installing winch on a Vinson
#1
I am installing a 2500lb Gorilla winch on my Vinson and it has a small power on the cord with the rocker switch that they say to connect to a power cord that gets power when the key is on. I have all the other power cords connected. Is that small power necessary? If so, where could I attach it?
Thanks,

When I installed the winch on my Ozark, I just used "guess-and-check" to find a hot power cable that turned on when the key was on. I found a wad of extra wires hanging down around the steering stem and I took turns sticking the power cable from the winch into each of them while turning the quad on and off until I found one that only worked with the quad turned on.
It's best to only run a winch with the quad running so this power cable is a good thing to install. If you run your winch with the quad shut off, it will kill your battery very quickly.

remove the headlight cover pull the headlight lens assebly out and you will find several pigtails 3 i think. The orange is hot with the key on. Also under the front fender high on the frame left side as you sit are 2 pigtails orange is hot the other ground (i'm going to use these 2 to connect a horn)
