Rebuilding LT80...need help...
#1
My friend has an older lt80 that is making a knocking sound. The last time the quad did this, it blew up a short time later. This time, he wants to be proactive rather than reactive. So he is going to tear it down completely and rebuild it from the ground up. The last time, it was rebuilt(top end only) by a dealer. He suspects maybe some debris was left in the crankcase, thus shortening the life of the new top end.
Our questions are these:
Are there very many aftermarket companies out there that handle hop-up parts for LT80s? If so, who are they? We are looking for specialty shops that could help with cranks, bearings, rods, piston kits, sleeves or cylinders, exhaust, etc...
This is going to be a full on rebuild and I'm guessing that using OEM will be very expensive. So why not go aftermarket and make it scream?
Any suggestions will be appreciated.....Thank you...

if you pick up a couple of atv magazines (atv sport, atv action or dirt wheels) they are full of after market parts. as far as the lower end rebuild you can try to find a smaller local bike shop that does work like that if your not doing it yourself or if you are they can be a good source of parts and knowledge. i have found that they are cheaper and friendlier than most dealers. good luck on the rebuild.
