Default 1983 LT 125cc rebuild cost ?

it's smoking very badly now.

when i got it , they owner said he replaced the timing chain and rings.

the smoking has just gotting worst over a week. using oil

im thinking it needs

all gaskets
over sized piston
rings
valve seals
valve guides

? vavles??

head work
bore jug.

how much im i looking at ?

i got it for 500 bucks
and know where a yamaha 125 breeze is for 1000.00
if i got to put 500 into the suzuki , i might as well sell it . right ?

yeah I got an LT 125 and I have been doing some shopping on bikebandit and JCWhitney and everything is expensive if you can even get it lots of parts are discontinued, but check ebay I actually saw a complete top end with piston and everything for $120 and some other parts are on there too check it out. The only thing with the breeze is that it is fully automatic and personally I find it more fun to shift, but you do get suspension with the breeze.

BTW if you do buy the parts and it fixes the problem let me know because mine is smoking and its starting to get worse and I keep pulling my plug and it is covered with oil.

Yeah I don't know where exactly it is I am going to take it apart tonight to check the jets so I will look and let you know tomorrow but I do know it is running way to rich I just went and rode it around the neighborhood and it was puking black smoke. Make sure you have the D7EA plug gapped to .028 because my gap was too big and it kept popping and wouldn't run either, now I gap all my new plugs to .028 and I can get about three days out of them before I have any problems with it fouling out.

My symptoms of a bad plug are the bike won't start after it is started and not ridden, and you give it gas and it dies, I thought it was bad oil because the guy I bought it from put regular car engine oil in it and I thought it was just the wrong oil covering the plug but I changed it and it worked a couple if days and quit, and I used to be able to clean the plug and it would work but now it only works with new ones. I am going to put some more miles on it and then probably take it apart and freshen up the motor, I just keep hoping that putting miles on it will help because it sat for four years. I am waiting for school to start again so I can use the compression tester because I think the rings are bad but I don't want to take it apart before that and find they are good. If I can find the problem and fix it I will definitely tell you exactly what it is. Reading your posts it sounds like your problem is identical I didn't notice you had the popping problem earlier, I thought it was a stuck valve until I changed the plug.

Does yours have a problem idling?
