2003 Eiger 400 w/broken speedo cable
would a broken speedo cable make the bike not work or work incorrectly?
Does it have anything to do with the automatic gear switching?
or does it just display speed and thats it?

I'd say it just displays speed. The Eiger doesn't have gears, it has a CVT. Which is basically just two conical pulleys that change the length of the belt to get different gear ratios.
