I was running my lt 250r in the snow just messin around in 1st and 2nd gear, after 2 hours of riding i poped it in nuetral and it started reving louder and louder and it wouldnt stop, i turned key off and its still was loudly reving sounded like it was gonna explode, i then hit the gas and that finally shut it down. Is this cause i adjusted the carb to loose so it would idle better, or what? also i have a leak comin from the gasket area it looks like oil but its real black and goopy. what could i do to fix it?

MAN MY ATV DID THE SAME,I WENT TO RIDE FOR ABOUT 2 HOUR OR SO.
AND I NOTICE I WAS LOW ON FUEL SO I PUT IT ON RESERVE.RODE A LITTEL MORE. WHEN I WAS GETTING READY TO SHUT IT OFF,SO I TURN THE PETCOCK
TO THE OFF PE. I THOUGHT I LET IT IDEL TO RUN THE FEUL OUT OF THE CARB.
THEN I NOTICE IT REV UP REAL HIGH IDEL.I COULD NOT GET IT TO STOP,THEN I PULLED THE KILL SWITCH IT WOULD NOT STOP
SO I TOOK A PLASTIC HANGER TO PULL THE SPARK PLUG WIRE OFF AND IT STILL
RAN FOR ABOUT 2 MIN AT HIGH IDEL WITH OUT THE WIRE IN CONTACT WITH THE PLUG.. THEN I TWISTED THE THROTEL THEN IT FINALLY SHUT DOWN,
I WAS SCARED THAT IT WAS GOING TO BLOW IT UP OR SOMTHING

You might as well keep that pipe and fix it! It looks like its turned towards the motor too much. Does it have the bracket that goes from the top of the pipe to the frame? Or is it just holding from the cyl. ? That might be why its leaning on the motor. If you really want to buy a pipe, save your money and get a Dr-Q pipe! An fmf pipe will be no better then what you have!

There's supposed to be a bracket at the top of the pipe that holds the pipe to the frame. There's a rubber in between the two ! You need to have that to keep the pipe from turning and leaning up against the motor! If you don't have it in place it will just keep making holes! Aftermarket pipes are not bolted straight to the cyl. like stock pipes! They're two parts that slip in to one another and therefore will slip and turn without that top bracket!
