Hello i am new to atving, I have a suzuki lt250r 1992 and im getting alot of oil leaking coming from where the pipe and silencer connect. Im assuming its oil,l its black, and its oozing out of where the pipe and silencer connect. I cant think of why it would do this?? Any suggestions, I changed the oil bout 2 weeks ago....thanks for any help

 

Orange RTV High-Temp Silicone.

Take the silencer off & clean up the mating surfaces good. Apply a liberal amount around the stinger & slide the silencer on. Let it dry for at least 2 hrs before you start it up.

 

your rings might be worn in the cylinder does it smoke any?

 

Shouldn't be oil in the exhaust! Are you sure you didn't overfill it with oil? The rings worn out could be a possiblity too.

 

Im not noticing any smoke anywhere, theres just black stuff oozing out where the two connect, its also leaking a little where the pipe connects to the atv(motor) not much but a steady slow leak, looks like the same color as the other leak, is it oil, or what? when i didn the oil i may of over filled just barely not that much at all just a little over 900ml. how would i go about checkin the rings? if i use the high temp silicone will that stop the leak or just build it up inside the pipe instead of leaking out? thanks

 

the only way i know of is to take the top end apart but if your going to do that why not rebuild it and yes if you do use the silicone you will end up having it build up in the exhaust for ***** and gigles run it a while if your losing oil i bet ya the rings are bad

 

do you know by chance how to check my oil level on these lt250r 1992, Yah il probably run it anyway its just a little messy, well its nothing to big of a deal just anoying having to clean it up constantly and if i use the silicone that will just keep it in the pipe so its probably better to have a release for it right?

 

isnt there a sight window on the left side behind the tire. It is better to release it than let it build up in the exhaust

 

il have to check for that window, so if im gonna replace the rings i should just do a rebuild? how much does that cost and where can i get it done at? thats pretty much what its gotta be cause why else would it leak?

 

that is my thoughts on it it will make your quad last a lot longer
