Problems with 250 Ozark
#1
I'm new at the forum and thought I would throw this at you the techs out there in Suzuki land.
I recently took on a project repairing a friend's 250 Ozark that was parked until the gas screwed up the carb.
It ran flat out and mid range very well but sounds and smelled extremely rich on low speed, and refused to idle.
After messing with it for a week I gave into advice from my uncle to put a NEW Mikuni 26 VM roundslide (generic Carb) on and do away with all my troubles.
The new carb idles perfectly and purrs like a kitten all the way up to about 3/4 throttle: then hits a wall. It sounds like someone has just pinched the fuel line shut as the motor stammers no matter whether its 3/4 or WO. Then settles into a nice calm idle when letting up.
Float level: Check!
Main Jet: changed from 110 thru 210, made almost no differance...
(except with the 110 up to about the 160 it bogged in mid range too...)
It seemed to be best around 180-190 main
Went up and down on the needle with very slight change...
Changed and gapped new plug.
It's acting like it has a rev limiter that doesn't allow it to rev past 6000rpm but it ran like a Banshi with the stock carb.
Any Ideas?

Hi There
It might be dangerous to take advice from me but it sounds like the stock carb is getting air in. maybe some seals dreid out with all the standing. Try some Pamela Anderson (silicone) on the seals. The carb just might not be useless anymore.
