Default LT230S Rear Shock

so i'm starting to get annoyed with my back shock. the first half or so of the stroke has no damping whatsoever, it just bounces away like its just a spring with no shock. somehow, the juice got out. i had been putting up with it for a while, but now i want it fixed.

so i was thinking about my options. works is WAYYY to expensive, and used oem units are boring compared to what i really want, a used lt250s rear unit. it has a rezzie and should fit[???] does anybody know the eye-to-eye lengths on them? I am also willing to do justrandy's upper mount mod if it could only be explained in a little more detail if the 250s unit is too long. I'd love to run one, since i do alot of jumping.

also, does anyone know if they are sprung stiffer from the factory?

any help would be greatly appreciated

thanks, austin.

I'm not sure on the length of the 250S rear shock but I found this on eBay today:

Rear Shock

I don't remember seeing a 230S with an external reservoir so maybe that's a 250S shock? Then again, the 250S shocks should be white, but maybe its painted. Who knows. You could probably email the seller and ask him what the eye to eye is.

Hope this helps.

whoa! ive never seen a shock like that!

im pretty sure its not a 250s shock, cuz they have the rezzie hose come out at 90 degrees towards the bottom of the shock, not out from the lower eyelet.

i think ima talk to the seller and maybe buy it.

does anyone know the eye to eye on a stock 230s rear shock?

I'd measure it for you if I was at home, but I'm down at school. Sorry.

Let me know what that shock is like if you get it.

Can you access the big 230 thread with the new forum software now?

Oh no problem man.

And, the big thread works fine for me. Why? Is it giving you problems?

To be honest, I really like the old forum better.

The new forum have some neat features. I don't mind it, plus the larger pictures are nice.

I have the 250s shock. It has a rezzie. No complaints.

The way I have my extended swingarm made and the upper shock mount, its geometrically impossible to bottom my shock. My 250lb buddy stood on the grab bar and pushed off the ceiling of the garage and bounced.... He bent the grab bar, but couldn't find bottom of the shock.

Anything from 250S is made of gold.
