Default 2005 King Quad 700 dead... (electrical?)

Hi guys, was wondering if any of you could help me, we have a 2005 king quad 700, and day before yesterday it started spluttering a bit. I then took it out the hill a couple of miles and it got so bad that I switched it off to restart it, except it was then dead. So I pull started it, but it wouldn't keep going.

So after walking home, then taking the 450 out with a battery to get it back. So back at home I measure the running and not voltage on both bikes.

The 700 was 12.6 off, and 12.3 running
The 450 was 12.6 off and 13.6 running

So I'm thinking alternator... but how do I verify, where is it? how do I test it?

Was also looking for a service manual download, but can't find one...

Thnks, JF.

Would agree your charging system is at fault here.

Good luck with the fix!

I had the same problem. Your stator is going. (Basically the alternator) It was doing everything you said. Watch, don't do this too long, because it can pull your battery down pretty badly. I got a new stator from Suzuki themselves for $290, and they installed it. Good thing I had a warranty, because apparently, its a long install, so long hours, long labor, more money. My bill was $1,000 all said and done.

before you go and get a whole stator assembly, try n check the voltage regulator.

a factory service manual should give the impedance to look for with a multimeter.
