Any suzuki 250r riders?

i have an 86. its the early model with the lousy (in comparison to later years) front suspension, camber, reeds, and no powervalve.
but i LOVE IT!!!! it absofknloutley screams, has TONS of low end, is very reliable, and rips on 450's all day long in the drags. my only complaint is that it's a little narrow, but thats ok since im getting +2" long travel arms pretty soon.
although people say the front suspension is bad, i do BIG jumps with my bike, and the front handles it no problem. the ride is like a marshmallow. even on lousy landings i rarely bottom out. and the full-floater rear is simply AMAZING.
best of all, theres lots of aftermarket out there for it (in comparison to my 230), so theres lots of potential.
i say, if you have the oppritunity to get one cheap, GET IT! you wont be dissapointed!

I just bought a 1991 lt250r for 100 bucks and am in the process of getting it to run. I am fairly new to quads mostly work on autos. so this bike is a two stroke and mix ratio is 40:1? Also i seem to be getting no gas to carb. I bought rebuild kit pepcock is clean and has gas coming out of it but still no gas to carb will run with shot of starter fluid. the only thing i cant seem to get right is the pin on how it is put in order and where on the pin, ie washer, oring and c-washer any help will be appeciated. thanks newbie daryl

I have a 1986, and a 1989, and they are great bikes, fast fun and the later years really can scream. I run 32:1 , maxima 927, and you should pick up a clymers guide, helped me out alot.
www.quadracershq.com is the best site for Suzuki quadracers all years. Go to the forums page there and register, great site and very helpful
ATVconnection is a great site for the general questions, but Quadracerhq guys know these quadracers. Also Dr. Q makes the best pipes available for a quadracer.

I would stick with the '87+ models. They are a definite step above the '85/86s in power and handling and a bit more durable to boot. The handling isn't quite up to par with todays 450's or even the Honda 250R from back in the day. As long as you aren't racing competitively it isn't a problem though. These things are extremely fun to ride, nothing like having a very large, ****ed off chainsaw between your legs when you hit the "go lever!"
