Default 04 eiger 4x4 not working right

I have an 04 eiger and when i flip it to 4wd it works however when i flip it back to 2wd it doesnt go back to two, it stays in 4. but if i grab the cable just below the lever and move it around ALOT it will go back into 2. I tried putting some lubricant on the cable and adjusting it but that didnt help. anyone have any ideas

Remove the side of the 2wd/4wd lever and confirm the cable is being engaged when you move the lever. If the cable is being engaged then you most likely need to adjust it. Both ends of the cable have an adjustment.

well i called myself adjusting it and it still doesnt seem to be working. i was actually riding it while adjusting the top adjustment and still couldnt get it to go back into 2wd. Think it might be in the differential?? or would it definitely be the cable??

You need to confirm that the cable is moving first. OR, open up the 2wd/4wd lever. Inside is a small cam, about 1/2" long. If it breaks, the ATV will default to 4wd.
