08 King Quad 450 Tranny issues
#1
I just went out on a ride with friends and went through some fairly deep water holes. Once I was out my tranny started to slip, and didn't stop. Had to end the ride prematurely
. Is this a common issue with the KQ tranny? I've read some info about getting water in the tranny and all of a sudden the belt drive starts to slip... does this mean I can't go 4 wheeling with my 4 wheeler? Overall I'm satisfied with my purchase, but this could really be an issue with it. Does anyone have the answer to preventing this from happening again?

One thing with the King is that they get water in the belt somehwhat easier than other brands. It's due to the lower belt exhaust piping. You can do a modification to help this somewhat.
When you do get water in the belt, there is a plug to drain out the water in the bottom of your ATV. You need to pull out that plug and let the water out. The belt will eventually dry and no longer slip. A cool website to check out for problems and solutions to the Kings is at Nyroc's ATV info website
Good luck!!

Thanks for the reply Buck. I drained out ~1 gal of water from the CVT case. After I looked at the silt in the water I decided to pull the cover off the case and flush it out. I let it dry and put it back together and it runs like a champ now. I've seen a few sites that offer snorkel kits, but I'm considering making it myself. Anyone have any suggestions as to where to look?

I made one myself using the tips from Nyroc. I chose the easiest one that raised the rear CVT exhaust about 3 or 4 inches, was easy to do and didn't require any cutting. It has made a difference already.
